"Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist.", practice the fundamentals and try drawing in different styles. There are art resources on the net and people here you could ask for advice if you feel stumped.

I should actually

Try drawing photographs to learn how light works.

Maybe set up Photoshop

It may not seem that way, but tracing is a great way to practice and improve, along with drawing more and more of course

I've thought of that before, maybe I should try

You can try keep your same artstyle, but try to learn a perspective more

I don't know in which areas you want to improve, but there's probably something - a style, a subject matter, maybe it's a particular way of doing colors, poses or backgrounds - that you want to be able to do but you feel like you can't. Something that made you feel unhappy with your art and had you ask this question. That's where I'd tell you to look.

Also, a general piece of advice: If you get into drawing comics (especially in the action/adventure genre) your artistic skill will improve by a *ton* because comics will kind of force you to get good at everything.

I do need to draw more elaborate comics, I'll try this out

i'd say either just mix it up and try a new medium (sculpting, painting, etc) to kinda refresh your brain, or i would recommend just in your free time replicating different art styles you like and adding them onto your existing skillset. :p

I've been thinking about painting
